Incredible very early 19th century French gilt Napoléon III mirror in superb original condition.
It has its absolutely stunning real gilt (gold leaf) frame with a huge, deep ornate crest and two side scrolls.
It has its beautiful original mercury glass. Mercury glass was not made after 1840 so the mirror definitely precedes this date. Mercury glass gives a magnificent sparkle in sunlight and was the glass used in the Palace of Versailles.
It has all its original backboards.
It would have been used as an overmantel in a grand, high ceilinged room but would look equally good as a freestanding leaner mirror or hanging on a large wall.
