Impressive antique French gilt rectangular Napoleon III mirror.
It dates from the very early 1800s.
It has its original substantial real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame with lovely floral gesso detail in excellent condition with no chips.
It has its original foxed mercury glass. Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives an incomparable sparkle in sunlight.
It could be hung portrait or landscape.. Perfect leaner mirror in a large living room perhaps.
