Stunning early19th century French gilt Louis XV leaner mirror in superb condition.
It dates from around 1830
It has its beautiful, ornate real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame and a very large shell and floral crest. There are no chips at all.
It has its wonderful original mercury glass with no scratches in fantastic condition with no scratches. Mercury glass was not used after 1840 and is increasingly hard to find. It gives a sparkle and reflection ruin like no other!
It would have originally been used as an overmantel mirror above a fireplace in a grand room with very high ceilings but it could also be used as a leaner mirror in a lounge, hall or bedroom.
Antique gilt mirrors of this size, condition and quality are incredibly hard to come by.
