It dates from around 1780.
It has its wonderful original
real gilt on gesso frame with ornate shell and floral crest with no chips.
It has its lovely original mercury glass with light foxing in places, enough to see it is antique at a glance but no scratches and the reflection is still clear.
Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives an incomparable sparkle.
It was the glass used in all the Palace of Versailles mirrors.
It has all its original backboards.
